Ready Player One

First word: wow.

I have seen Ready Player One twice now and I am absolutely, positively awestruck. I am quite the fan of science fiction movies which gives Ready Player One a slight advantage to movies in other genres, but I do sincerely believe that this movie would appeal to anyone. With its vibrant, colourful animated and real-life scenes as well as its well-thought out plot line, this movie really is worth your time. Wade Watts, the main character in the story is portrayed very well by Tye Sheridan in both the Oasis and the real world. His feelings of excitement, worry, and at times, love, were very natural and real and you could feel everything he felt. I also thought that it was ingenious who the human counterparts of the avatars were, especially H and Sho. I won’t spoil it for those who haven’t seen Ready Player One. As well as all this, there is great CGI in Ready Player One and after a while, you really start to believe that the virtual reality life, is well…real! The facial expressions on the avatar are so believable and if there was a virtual reality wonderland with graphics like that I would be flying head over heels into it. If you look hard enough at Halliday’s eyes on his avatar, you will realise that they capture the exact likeness of Halliday’s eyes which is completely amazing. Go 21st century animators!

So, overall, Ready Player One is great, and in my opinion, better than both Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Black Panther put together, and I am an avid Star Wars fan! With a very high rating on Rotten Tomatoes and, quite frankly, all over the internet, if you haven’t been to see this modern blockbuster, it is definitely the way to go.

SPOILERS: FOR IF YOU GET TOTALLY CREEPED OUT BY SCARY MOVIES AND WANT TO BE WARNED…

Younger viewers be warned, there is a segment of Ready Player One which refers to The Shining. When the ball rolls up to H in the movie theatre, I’d cover your eyes from there. Don’t forget to watch the dancing scene afterwards though!
