Portrait
Golden heads on springtime stalks, dancing in the wind
One by one, by one, by one
Portrait by portrait
Rolling waves
Of olive and emerald
Beneath the sapphire sky
Art seen but once among a thousand
In the rhythm of wooden poles and broken white stripes
Accompanied by the musings of an empty mind
Quiet of noise and of time and of thoughts
Dreams and muffled memories
Perhaps yours or possibly something else
On the tip of your tongue
Suddenly lost completely
After a particularly woolly lamb
Another metal box trespasses
From time to time
The tranquility of eternal rhythm abruptly broken
A reminder that you are, in fact, also an industrial intruder
In their quiet musings
And so follows a curious daydream
What life led them to be travelling down the same little obscure country road?
The one you discovered by picking a line on a map
And driving in whichever direction took your fancy
