Warm Bodies Review
(Published: 2019/05/03)
This review is well overdue. I’ve almost finished the third book in the Warm Bodies series and I’m not kidding when I say this is the best book series I’ve ever read in my life (which, so far, is relatively short…but still! I’ve read a few books in my lifetime…). I actually found Warm Bodies through the movie adaptation (which made it to my top favourite movies list too) and it is one of those few books you can read after you’ve watched the movie without it being spoiled (though I do still recommend you read the book first). I devoured the first book and I’m constantly gasping at the second.
Warm Bodies is a post-apocalyptic romantic comedy (quite the mix of genres) and centres around a zombie with emotions that falls for a human girl. No, this is not one of those cliche books where the supernatural creature and the human fall for each other and they end up in a cheesy romance with a few action scenes in-between. Warm bodies is a much deeper series, with actual humour, and while the first book does end up with a pretty cheesy message, it is the only book I’ve ever read that could express something so cheesy in a non-cheesy way (I’m not sure if that made complete sense…but if you read the book you’ll get what I mean!). It is the type of series that makes you hang on its every word and I have been so enthralled by the constant plot-twists. The Warm Bodies universe is a place I never ever want to leave, so I’d better savour these books! There are 3 books in total, with a prequel. Even if you’re not into the whole sci-fi genre or the romantic genre I can guarantee you’ll love it. And when you’ve finished the books, watch the movie. It’s just as good.
I have to get back to reading now….it’s just so exciting!!!
